It’s a fact that drones have been seen in various applications these days. Before, if you wanted to achieve a perfect aerial shot you have to deal with bigger budget. These days, drone can match such dramatic footages without breaking a bank. For such reason, drone makers are already pushing their products further up to cater for wider audiences.
Among the biggest in the market for camera drones is DJI. But until now their products does not feature a camera that can zoom. The operator needs to fly closer to the subject if he or she wanted to have a “closer look” with it. Then they built something better, The Zenmuse 3.
The Zenmuse 3 weighs around 262 grams. The drone comes with Sony-built 1/2.3-inch camera sensor. This sensor is also utilized by DJI’s Inspire 1 and Phantom 4. It has the capacity to shoot video at 4K boasting up to to 30 frames per second.
Also, it can capture images with resolution of 12-megapixels. And now it can zoom in without problems. Through its combined 3.5x optical zoom and a 2x digital zoom the Z3 can achieve up to 7x zoom.
The targeted application for Zenmuse 3 is in “industrial applications.” With this innovation “pilots in a search-and-rescue situation, or conducting surveys or inspections, can maintain distance and still zoom in for sharp, detailed images.” said DJI senior product manager Paul Pan.
